Viticulture

1314 Shiraz is made from fruit grown on the Winery Block, planted in 1990 and 1996. The 2024 vintage is a barrel selection based on an earlier bottling regime and a younger drinking window.

Winemaking

Parcels of Shiraz were completely destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeast. The wine was left on skins for 7 days before pressing. The wine was matured for 8 months in primarily hogsheads of which 10% was new oak.

Tasting Note

A striking and bright colour of inky purple and crimson. On the nose aromas of black and red fruits are up front, with some lingering blue fruits, spicy clove and anise. It's unmistakably cool climate Shiraz. On the palate there is meat and olive characters and high toned, pure fruits. The wine has a lovely mouthful of flavour, but retains freshness, clarity and fine but firm tannin.
