Viticulture

1314 Rosé is made from a blend of estate Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz & Merlot grown on our established vineyards, planted in 1981, 1990 & 1996.

Winemaking

Handpicked fruit was whole bunch pressed, settled over night, and racked to tank for temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. After fermentation the wine was racked to a combination of stainless steel and old barrels for a 3-month maturation on lees prior to bottling.

Tasting Note

The 2023 Rosé is a lovely, fresh and summery style which provides refreshment but also interest and complexity. Pink grapefruit, red apple and aromatic spice notes present on the nose, and on the palate strawberry and apple skin flavours, orange zest and some Campari-like bitterness which leaves the palate feeling clean, dry and ready for the next sip.

94 points. It’s so fresh there’s almost some spritz. It’s a pale crimson colour and it’s dry in style, but the flavours are where it gets interesting. It’s herbal and meaty and strawberried and spicy, twigs here, fruits there, character everywhere. It’s finely balanced and has good mouthfeel but it’s the unusual intricacy of the flavours that ultimately beguiles. Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au.
