Spring time aperitif... 1314 Rosé 2024
Nov 08, 2024
1314 Rosé is a relatively new addition to the Bannockburn collection, with the 2024 vintage marking just its third release.
Over these first few years, the blend has evolved and will continue to do so, influenced by the variations of each vintage. Despite being only the third vintage, 1314 Rosé already boasts a distinct personality. It’s a flavourful wine with structure and grip yet maintains a refreshing liveliness. Bold in colour—yet not nearly a light red—this vintage is vibrantly expressive, with the 2024 reflecting the warmth of the season.
One of its standout features across vintages is its aromatic profile, with spicy, bitter, orange and grapefruit pith notes that evoke the essence of Campari and tonic. As with all our Bannockburn wines, this Rosé clearly reflects the unique character of our site, and it does so with a distinct voice. It's exciting to see that, even through the lens of Rosé, our wine's personality remains bold and expressive, true to its origins.
An excellent aperitif, it also has the texture and structure to pair beautifully with food, as suggested by Campbell Mattinson—and it was recently tested at home with spring risotto on one night, and chicken fajitas on another to great effect - versatile indeed.
1314 Rosé from the 2024 vintage is crafted from a blend of estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignon, Shiraz, Riesling, and Merlot, sourced from our established vineyards, planted in 1981, 1990, and 1996. The fruit is handpicked, whole bunch pressed, settled overnight, and racked to tank for fermentation in stainless steel at controlled temperatures. After fermentation, the wine is aged for three months on lees in stainless steel before bottling.
The 2024 Rosé offers both refreshment and complexity. The nose is expressive, with aromas of pink grapefruit, Campari, orange pith, and red apple. On the palate, strawberry and cream flavours blend with apple skin crunch and aromatic spices, while a touch of orange zest bitterness leaves the palate clean, dry, and eager for the next sip.
If you have not yet tried this wine; this Spring is a great time to do so. Only $27 too.
