Viticulture

Bannockburn Sauvignon Blanc is made from 1 acre of vineyard made up of two small parcels, both planted in 1996 and certified organic in 2021. The clone is F4V6 and the vine spacing is 1.5m. The soil is made up of mixed clay over limestone.

Winemaking

Handpicked fruit was whole bunch pressed, settled over night, and racked to tank for temperature-controlled fermentation in stainless steel. After fermentation the wine was rested for a 3-month maturation on lees prior to bottling.

Tasting Note

Bannockburn Sauvignon Blanc 2025 shows a more restrained, savoury side of the variety with lovely tension and freshness. Aromas of hay, blackcurrant leaf and cut grass lead into a crisp, steely and finely structured palate of green apple and pear. There’s a subtle waxy texture and a mineral thread running throughout, giving depth and a clean, dry finish. A focused and food-friendly style that speaks clearly of site over variety.

Reviews

94 points. Lovely and generous, with aromas of citrus blossoms, yellow apples, crushed stones, white flowers and mandarins. The palate is mid-weighted with a rounded texture and bright acidity, showing a nice phenolic grip and a leesy Asian pear finish. More old world than previous years, yet still very varietal. Drink now. Screw cap. Ryan Montgomery, jamessuckling.com.
