Viticulture

1314 Shiraz is made from fruit grown on the Range and Winery Block vineyards, planted in 1974, 1990 and 1996. The 2025 vintage is a barrel selection based on an earlier bottling regime and a younger drinking window.

Winemaking

The Shiraz parcels were fully destemmed and fermented with indigenous yeast. The wine remained on skins for 9 days before pressing and was matured for 7 months in mostly hogsheads with 10% new oak.

Tasting Note

Vibrant inky crimson in appearance, the nose is aromatic and expressive, showing ripe plums, dark cherries, meaty and savory notes, hints of blood, perfumed violet, and subtle spice. The palate is plush and juicy, layered with dark fruit, peppery spice, and a fine dusting of tannin that provides structure. A touch of earthy minerality add complexity, while the wine’s youthful energy carries through to a long, textural, and vibrant finish.

Reviews

95 points. Made from estate-grown fruit and matured in hogsheads (10% new). Just as good, if not better, than last year's impressive and very well-priced release. An impressive crimson purple colour. Aromas of dark fruits, freshly cracked black pepper, florals and spice all precede the richly flavoured, gently structured and very well-balanced palate. This is a wine that will look even better over the next four to six years. Philip Rich, winecompanion.com.
