Vintage Report 2025
May 05, 2025
The 2025 season at Bannockburn will be remembered for its unusually early start, our earliest harvest not only this century, but possibly in the history of the estate. A warm and exceptionally dry growing season, punctuated by a few well-timed rain events, shaped a vintage of both pace and promise.
Strong early budburst and excellent fruitfulness resulted in balanced crops, with average yields across the board. Despite the fast-paced nature of the season, ripening progressed in a favourable sequence, allowing for measured and timely picking decisions.
The vineyard coped admirably with the dry conditions, thanks in part to those helpful bursts of rainfall that maintained vine health and fruit integrity and some much-needed irrigation from our dam. With no disease pressure and clean, balanced fruit, the crop came in in beautiful condition.
We’re especially grateful to our excellent vineyard team, whose hard work under warm conditions were instrumental in getting the fruit in at its best. Their efforts ensured a smooth and efficient harvest across every block.
In the winery, Matt and the team approached the compact harvest window with calm focus and precision. Seamless workflows and clean fermentations allowed the quality of the fruit to shine through, with the young wines already showing clarity, energy, and depth.
2025 is shaping up to produce some high-quality wines here at Bannockburn, with great potential and a real sense of character. We’re excited to see how these wines evolve over the months and years ahead.
